‎Head Coach of the U-23 National Team, Samson Siasia has selected 25 players ahead of the African U-23 Championship final round, first leg blowout against Congo’s Red Devils in Port Harcourt on July 19.

The players selected players are:

Goalkeepers: Daniel Emmanuel, Yusuf Mohammed, Emmason Daniel

Defenders: Segun Oduduwa, Erhun Obanor, Iroha Ebuka, Amuzie Stanley, Chima Akas, Atanda Sadiq, Ikechukwu Okorie, Nnaemeka Uzoma

Midfielders: Azubuike Okechukwu, Usman Mohammed, Tiongoli Tonbara, Godwin Savior, Emeka Kenneth, Etor Daniel, Olisah Ndah, Eteobong Elisha, Oladapo Augustin, Musa Yahaya

Strikers: Taiwo Awoniyi, Peter Onyekachi, Junior Ajayi, Etebo Oghenekaro

Making the announcement on Friday, ,Coach Siasia said the selected players would be joined by four overseas-based professionals Imoh Ezekiel, Aminu Umar, Sodiq Popoola and Gabriel Abalo for the final phase of preparations for the crucial game billed for the Adokiye Amiesiemaka Stadium, Port-Harcourt. ‎

He urged the players who failed to make the cut not to be discouraged but to work harder to keep themselves among the pool of players that could be called up for future  assignments as the team prepares for the return leg, and the All-Africa Games in Congo.

The U-23 gaffer then released players whose clubs have league games at the weekend to go and play for their teams with a stern instruction that all of them must report in Port-Harcourt on Monday. Failure to do so could mean automatic ejection from the squad.

Meanwhile, the Dream Team delegation to Port Harcourt will be departing Abuja for Port Harcourt on Monday 7th July.
