President of Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick on Sunday stormed the headquarters of The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries in Yaba, Lagos to celebrate with the church over its football team’s promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League – Nigeria’s domestic top tier.
Nigeria’s number one football administrator commended the General Overseer of the Church, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya for his deep passion and undying love for youth development and advised that the football team, MFM FC, should be run independently as a professional outfit.
Pinnick described Dr. Olukoya as a humble man of God and the MFM as a living church where prayers are answered. He promised to make himself available to assist the church in any capacity that will aide the growth of football in Nigeria.
In his response, Dr. Olukoya thanked the NFF president for coming to celebrate with MFM for becoming the first church in Nigeria to have a football team that would be so good enough to gain promotion to the elite division of Nigeria’s domestic football. He asked the congregation to pray for Mr. Pinnick to have a very successful tenure as NFF boss.
The NFF President also visited the MFM Youth Church situated inside the University of Lagos, where he challenged the congregation made up mostly of students of the prestigeous institution to strive to make their parents proud. Pinnick told a story of how he vowed to make his mum proud after he saw his mum cry tears of joy on learning of his admission into the University of Benin several years ago.
The MFM FC is the defending champion of the Church World Cup, which it won in December 2014 in Goa, India.
