The fine run of Golden Eaglets at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 is full of fun off the field thanks largely to the presence of a carbon copy of Nigeria’s actor and comedian, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia.
Lucas Pablo, the Team Liaison Officer (TLO) attached to the Golden Eaglets, has enlivened the Nigerian camp so much so that he was christened ‘Osuofia’ for his comic relief to the players and officials.
Pablo, a Chilean, studied journalism with specialization in film production and he’s loved by all for always having a word for every occasion. But jokes apart, Osuofia a brings a puritanical devotion to the job and has largely contributed o the success of the Golden Eaglets so far at Chile 2015. He is a jack of all trade and master of all for that matters.
“God in his infinity wisdom pushed Lucas to us at this tournament because he has been so helpful in sorting out so many problems for us here,” noted a Golden Eaglets’ official.
‘Osuofia’ who is also called ‘Mr. Perfect’ said he was told to expect a demanding schedule from Nigeria when he was appointed as the TMO.
“They said I should expect a tough work with Nigeria and be able to solve problems when they arise,” revealed Pablo over lunch recently.“But it’s been fun working with you guys.”
In a rare show of affection after their 6-0 defeat of Australia on Wednesday, the players joined voices to sing birthday lullaby to Pablo’s junior brother, Tomas who turned 24. “We all love Lucas,” noted captain Kelechi Nwakali, who scored a goal against Australia. “He is friendly, and we see him like a big
brother in our team.”
Meanwhile, the head of the security team attached to the Golden Eaglets at Chile 2015, Policeman Rody Donoso has commended the Golden Eaglets for their exemplary conduct at this tournament.
“Your team is about the most disciplined we have seen here both on the field and off the field,” he said.
“It is nice to see young boys and their officials conduct themselves in good manners and we want to wish you more success in this competition.”
