Nigeria’s U-17 side, Golden Eaglets on Saturday, thrashed the Sia-One Academy 5-1 at the FIFA Goal Project pitch in Abuja.

Striker Ebere Nduka grabbed a first half brace with the first goal coming as early as the 30 seconds and added the second in the 17th minute. Peter Okechi pulled a goal back for Sia-One in the 38th minute after a defensive mix up at the Eaglets’ rear.

Winger Promise Orji headed home the third goal for Eaglets in the 49th minute off a free kick from Kelechi Nwakali, who in the mean time scored the fourth three minutes later from the spot kicks. Second half substitute Rilwan Olugbode capped his solo run on the wing when he smashed home a rebound in the 77th minute.

“We are not interested in the score line rather we want to see how well the boys can function together as a team,” coach Amuneke told thenff.com. “These friendly matches are crucial in preparing the boys and it is better we play more matches to improve the fitness,” noted the 1994
African Footballer of the Year.

The Golden Eaglets who came fourth at the CAN U-17 Championship in Niger are preparing earnestly for the World Cup in Chile later this year.
