Coach Samson Siasia has affirmed that he is much comfortable with the choice of Port Harcourt by the Nigeria Federation Federation as venue for next month’s African U-23 Championship final round, first leg qualifying match against Congo.
“Port Harcourt is home for me, and I want to assure Nigerians that my boys will find the place to be home as well. I am appealing to the people of Port Harcourt and indeed the adjoining towns and States to come out en masse to support the Dream Team against Congo, so that we can win well and render the return leg a formality.
“As far as we are concerned, the choice of Port-Harcourt by the NFF is a commendable one. We are working on a plan to see that we move over to the Garden City in good time before the game so as to get used to the pitch well ahead and also get used to the people of the city.”
Expressing satisfaction with the performance of his team so far in the build up to the Congo game, Coach Siasia said for now he will still release players to their clubs for weekend League matches. He however appealed to the clubs to understand that two weeks to the game, any player selected will not be released for such games as he needs all his players to be in camp and concentrate on the crucial encounter.
In the friendly game, the Dream Team parading players like Umar Aminu, Junior Ajayi, Shehu Abdullahi, Moses Ekpai, Daniel Etor amongst others defeated the Abuja based Amakson Academy 2-0 with goals from Ekpai and Adigibe Uzo.
