The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have galvanized the Flying Eagles ahead ofThursday’s U-20 World Cup clash against Germany in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The African champions finished second behind five-time champions Brazil in Group E to set up a clash against European champions Germany on Thursday.
Kick-off time is 7.30pm local time, which is 8.30am Thursday in Nigeria.
Nigeria leader of delegation Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’, who has been with the team since they were in training camp in Germany, has challenged the team to be at their best against Germany as they aim to reach the last-eight of the tournament.
“The Flying Eagles have put behind them the loss to Brazil to record wins over North Korea and Hungary. They have improved with each match and I believe they will again rise to the occasion and make Nigeria proud again,” said Ahmed Yusuf.
“The spirit in the team is very high after those two straight victories and we are all looking forward to the match on Thursday with full confidence.”
In the same vein, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi congratulated the Flying Eagles for reaching the knockout rounds of the World Cup.
He told the team through team secretary Aliyu Auwal Ibrahim that they should know the entire country is behind them in their quest to become the first Nigerian team to win the tournament.
“The General Secretary said he is confident the team will shine against Germany on Thursday and therefore urged them to remain focused in their bid to make history by winning the competition,” Auwal Ibrahim relayed the goodwill message of the NFF chieftain.
“He also assured that the NFF will sustain the support they have extended to the team because the Executive Committee and Management have total and unshaken confidence in the team and what they are capable of.”
