Chairman of the Nigeria National League, High Chief Emeka Inyama has lauded the appearance of NFF President Amaju Pinnick at the Glo Premier League Week 9 match between Shooting Stars and Enugu Rangers at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan on Sunday, 17th May, 2015.
Speaking in Abuja, Inyama who is a ranking member of the NFF Executive Committee was of the view that the move by the NFF President will go a long way in making referees and other match officials sit up and be on their toes at any venue, not knowing whether the NFF President or some other high –ranking football official would turn up.
“The surprise appearance of the NFF President at the Lekan Salami Stadium is commendable. I believe it is one of the new ways of doing things that the president has brought on board. He made sure nobody, not even the General Secretary, knew that he was going to be at the match.
“It is a good move and a brilliant precedent. Now, if the NFF President can go and watch domestic League matches, why would any of the Coaches of the National Teams not feel obliged to do so?”
Inyama is also confident that the gesture would spread to the other Leagues very soon: “I am very sure, even excited, that very soon the NFF President will attend a Nigeria National League match, and then a match in the Nigeria Women Football League and even in the Nigeria Nation-Wide League.”
